Travel by car

From Belgium, Ghent

Distance: 920 km

Time: 9h30

Toll: eur70 

 

  • Motorway to Paris

  • 5 km after Aeroport Charles De Gaule right to A86  BORDEAUX

  • In Paris, you have 3 options:

    • Francilliene: afther C. De Gaule keep a right and follow Bordeaux. Once on  A10 gekomen, you are back on the common road.

    • Middle Ring (A86): Follow Paris – Est untill right befor the Périférique, follow A86 Bordeaux. In Palaiseau you are back on the common road.

    • Périférique: Follow Paris – Est untill the ring than take Paris – Sud. Once you passed Porte d’Italie  => (Bordeaux), follow Bordeaux. (Orleans)

  • After Paris follow ORLEANS - TOURS - POITIERS - BORDEAUX

  • Afther the first high bridge of Bordeaux, follow MERIGNAC  (airport)

  • After second high bridge (over the Garonne) continue until excit 8 (new road, so possibly navigation systems show otherwize)

  • Excit 8 CASTELNAU DE MEDOC  and then right to Verdon

  • Close to the village St Hélène, follow LACANAU 

  • In BRACH you follow Carcan, than Hourtin

  • Once in Hourtin, pick up the keys at our local contact, Mvr. Mauricette Guilbaud. More details on the bottom of this page.

     

 

 

From Switzerland, Zürich

Distance: 1030 km

Time: 11h00

Toll: eur65 

 

  • Motorway to A1 BERN - LAUSANN -GENEVA

  • after Geneva cross the French border and follow Lyon

  • Once you enter Lyon follow LYON-CENTRE and then PARIS A6 for a short time

  • Take Excit to A86 Thiers, Cleremont-Ferrand, BORDEAUX

  •  The A89 is a new motorway and is known as "La Transeuropéenne". You will witness some beatifull landscpaes, there are few cars and gaz stations are modern. A totally different expirience as the Noth-South Axes. We often have a stop in the area of Cleremont-Ferrand on we had good experiences in the folowing hotels: 

    • Hotel Radio (43, avenue Pierre et Marie Curie, 63400 Chamalieres). For a short stop, Art Déco building with very good retaurant

    • Chateau Maulmont. perfect way to start your holiday in traditional french style with lovely restaurant, pool & huge garden and parking. http://www.chateau-maulmont.com

  • The A89 connects Lyon with Bordeaux .

  • Once approaching Bordeaux, continue to follow Bordeaux-CENTRE

From Belgium

  • When we fly, we usually take an Easyjet flight in Brussels to Bordeaux. It feels like taking a bus as Easyjet has a separte hub with its own hall, bagage reclaim, security lugage & parking

  • In Bordeaux you can rent a car 

  • Once you leave the airport, follow MERIGNAC-CENTRE/BORDEAUX to E5

  • On the E5, continue until excit 8 (new road, so possibly navigation systems show otherwize)

  • Excit 8 CASTELNAU DE MEDOC  and then right to Verdon

  • Close to the village St Hélène, follow LACANAU 

  • In BRACH you follow Carcan, than Hourtin

  • To arrive at the apartment, you take Avenue du Lac (D4) direction Hourtin-Port and take a left at the entrance of the Parking of Hourtin-Port. You cross the parking and at the other site, you go straight ahead to arrive at Les Villas du Port at your left site. Your private parking in front of the house is marked by its house number. Apartment 260 and 250 have their parking slot in front of the bridge to the Children island. To arrive at parking slot of apartment 162, you continue along "Les Villas du Port" and park in the corner.
